In Memory The passing away in the last couple of years of Brother Fidelis (obituary in Autumn 2006 Newsletter), and Brothers Fergus and Edmund Campion (obituaries Spring 2008 Newsletter), there are no longer any surviving Brothers of Our Lady of Mercy who taught in England, although the Order is still very active in Italy, Holland, Africa and South America. Amongst the lay teachers at St Egberts who have passed away in recent years we have been advised of the following :- Norman Cresswell, who taught at the College in the 1950's, and subsequently became Editor of the Catholic Herald. Gordon Spurgeon, who was a very popular Sports Master for a good number of years right up to the closure of the College in 1970. (obituary Spring 2008 Newsletter) The Committee is also sad to recall the passing away of the following pupils in recent years against which we show the years they attended the College, if known..
May they rest in peace The Association holds an Annual Memorial Mass for former Staff and Pupils of the College at the Catholic Church in Station Road, Chingford, (opposite the Bull and Crown), usually on the second Sunday in December to which all former Pupils are warmly invited. ++++++ If you are aware of any other former pupils or Masters that should be added to the above then please click here. |
