  Reports

The Association has held many social events since its formation. Each event is usually followed by a report and photographs if available in The Egbertian newsletter - copies of which are available on this website.

For many Members, social events are seen to lie at the heart of the Association's activities. It can be pleasant to combine meeting up with old/new school friends in a variety of settings.

Efforts are made to vary both the nature and the cost of events but we do need our members input as it is your Association.

Ideally, our various activities would be well spread geographically, to add interest and to make sure that no member feels left out. So far we have held events in Suffolk, Essex, Kent, London and France. Arrangements elsewhere do, however, present practical problems for the Committee, as we all live within a 50 mile radius around London. If there are any volunteer members out there who are prepared to organise something further afield, then please telephone Brain Pieri on 020 8524 0258 with your ideas.

Activities and events to date have included the following of which reports can be found in the newsletter(s) as shown

Memorial Mass
Since 1947 the Association has held an Annual Memorial Mass in the Catholic Church in North Chingford for pupils who lost their lives in the Second World War. It was originally held on Remembrance Sunday, but for the last couple of years it has been held it on the same Sunday as the Christmas Social above), usually the first or second Sunday in December, and is now in memory of all deceased pupils and teaching staff of the College.

In addition the Association has held Golf tournaments, A trip to the Horse racing, A night at Walthamstow Dogs, A Visit to Duxford Airfield, A day trip to France and an evening with Brother Fergus amongst other events.

In response to commonly asked questions:

Q Can I bring a partner? Partners have always been very welcome at all social events and three years ago were encouraged to attend the AGM, which had previously been members only. This change of policy has been deemed very successful with many partners now attending.

Q What is the dress code?
There isn't one. Smart casual is usually in the majority but wear whatever you feel comfortable in.

Q How do I find out more details about the Association?
The best way is to become a Member is to complete the application form in the membership section of this website (either on-line or send a printed copy) and sending it, together with your payment, to membership secretary Mike Fitzgerald.

Q Why should I join?
Because for a relatively small amount of money you can help the Association continue in its work. You also receive regular newsletters throughout the year and the regular social events gives you an opportunity to catch up with former classmates and other pupils of the College. Even if you can't attend the social events it is always good to hear what is going on.
